Shopping
Even an everyday task like grocery shopping can be a big deal when you are facing brands you've never heard of, ingredients that mean nothing to you, and a whole new approach to "customer service".
What do those abbreviations on the price tags mean? Where can you get your shoes repaired? What does it cost to send a letter to Australia?
Becoming well-skilled at living in Paris also includes details like these!
The French Administration
It is difficult enough to deal with administrative procedures in your home country, let alone in a place where you are not entirely familiar with the language.
Do you know those French medical forms that you need to fill out and that visit to the Préfecture that you have been dreading? FIT FOR PARIS is here for you!
From helping you understand the situation, to gathering information, to actually going there, and even to following up afterward, you and Marion will sort it out together. Your problem will be solved, and you will have acquired valuable expertise in the process.
Translation and Interpreting
No doubt you are doing your best to learn French quickly, but there are so many other things to look after right now. What do you do when you receive an official-looking letter and have no idea what it is all about?
Or you might have an important phone call to make, but you don't yet feel up to the task.
While the goal is still for you to get by in French fairly soon, you might occasionally need someone to translate for you on the phone, in writing, or in person.
As you watch and listen, you will not only pick up new vocabulary but you will better understand the French style of communication and will master body language, tone of voice, and other skills for making yourself understood.
Children
Depending on your children's ages, you might want to find out about sports clubs or cultural activities. Marion would be happy to assist you with the research.
If your child is in school, you might need to communicate with teachers. Because the teacher/student relationship and the instructional methods in France are different from what you are accustomed to, you will probably feel more comfortable if you have support at an important school meeting.
Vacation Planning
Even if you can now find your way around Paris and the suburbs, organizing a trip to Burgundy for you and your family is a different story! Wouldn't it be easier if you could rely on someone's expertise for ordering brochures, booking accommodations, and planning visits?
Let Marion use her fluency in French, German, and English to help you make the most of your time in Europe.
Anything Else
For example:
Where can I possibly find...?
How do you say ... in French?
I still don't understand ...!
Am I the only one who finds ... difficult?
There are no stupid questions! During your FIT FOR PARIS sessions, you can feel free to discuss any issues that concern you, ask all your questions, and share your experiences.
